Regional Launch

Inaugural Meeting and Training Workshop

The Blue Justice Caribbean Hub will hold its Inaugural Regional Meeting and Training Workshop in Kingston, Jamaica on 17 November 2023.

The event is hosted by the Jamaican National Fisheries Authority, in collaboration with the Norwegian Government, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Caribbean Regional Fisheries Mechanism (CFRM).

The Blue Justice Caribbean Hub (BJCH), responds to the (CRFM) Ministerial Resolution No. MC 15(6) of 2021, which commits regional support of the International Declaration on Transnational Organized Crime in the Global Fishing Industry (Copenhagen Declaration) and the Norwegian Blue Justice Initiative (BJI), calling for urgent cooperative action to protect food security, marine ecosystems, and uphold the rule of law against the backdrop of illegal fishing and fisheries crime in the Caribbean region. The creation of the Hub, launched internationally at the Blue Justice Conference 2023, is in line with the CRFM Resolution’s call for high-priority interventions that benefit all Member States and foster strategic inter-agency collaboration. Blue Justice regional Hubs are supported by the BJI and UNDP’s Blue Resilience project.

The Hub’s Regional Inaugural launch celebrates collaboration and serves as a springboard for cooperative action. The event blends high-level commitment with an interactive training workshop, engaging experts from the region, cross-Atlantic and the International Blue Justice Tracking Centre in Norway.

The high-level opening of the event will be livestreamed here.

The stream starts from 09:00 Jamaican time (Eastern Standard Time).
